Church of Christ Lohn Podcast
The Church of Christ is a Christian fellowship rooted in the Restoration Movement of the early 19th century, which sought to return to the original, apostolic model of Christianity as revealed in the New Testament. With no denominational headquarters or human creed, the Church of Christ emphasizes the Bible alone as its authority in faith and practice. Members are simply called “Christians,” and congregations are autonomous, governed by elders and served by deacons, evangelists, and teachers. Historically, the movement began in the United States through the efforts of leaders like Alexander Campbell, Barton W. Stone, and Thomas Campbell, who rejected man-made divisions in Christianity and pleaded for unity based on Scripture alone. Churches of Christ practice baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, observe the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, and maintain a cappella worship, following the New Testament example. Today, the Church of Christ spans the globe, dedicated to restoring New Testament Christianity in doctrine, worship, and daily living.

"From Promise to Power: The Unfinished Work of Christ"
Description:The Gospel of Luke ends with an open door. The risen Christ ascends, but His work is far from finished. In this powerful transition from Luke to Acts, we open the next chapter in God’s redemptive story—not a conclusion, but a commission. Acts 1 begins with clarity, urgency, and divine instruction. The same Jesus who conquered the grave now calls His followers to wait—not in fear, but in expectation—for the power of the Holy Spirit.
This sermon explores the seamless connection between the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts, both authored by Luke the physician, and reveals how Jesus' earthly ministry becomes the Church’s eternal mission. We’ll walk through Acts 1 verse by verse, examining the 40 days of post-resurrection appearances, the charge to be His witnesses “to the ends of the earth,” and the choosing of Matthias to replace Judas. More than history, Acts 1 is a blueprint for bold faith and Spirit-filled action.
If you’ve ever wondered what comes after the resurrection—this is it. And it starts with power from on high.

"When Heaven Ignites Earth: The Power of Pentecost"
Description:Acts 2 is the spiritual explosion that launched the Church. Fifty days after Passover, as Jews from every nation gathered in Jerusalem for Pentecost, heaven tore through earth. The Holy Spirit descended like fire, the apostles spoke in every language under heaven, and Peter—once fearful—stood up with boldness to preach the first Gospel sermon.
This message unpacks the divine significance of Pentecost: not just as an event, but as the fulfillment of prophecy, the birth of the Church, and the arrival of power Jesus promised in Acts 1. We walk through Peter’s sermon, Joel’s prophecy, and the crowd’s conviction that led 3,000 souls to baptism in one day. This is no mere history lesson—this is a divine pattern for revival.
If you’ve ever longed for a deeper outpouring of God’s Spirit or wondered how ordinary people become world-changers, Acts 2 is the blueprint. The fire didn’t fall just to be remembered. It fell to be repeated.

"Unstoppable Boldness: Healing, Preaching, and Standing Firm"
Description:In Acts 3 and 4, the early Church moves from waiting to walking, from receiving power to releasing it. Peter and John encounter a lame beggar at the temple gate—and with one declaration in the name of Jesus Christ, a man who had never walked is leaping for joy. But the miracle draws a crowd, and the crowd draws opposition.
This sermon explores how the Spirit-empowered Church steps into public ministry with fearless boldness. We follow the ripple effect of one healing: Peter’s powerful sermon at Solomon’s Porch, the arrest of the apostles, and their unshakable stand before the same religious leaders who condemned Jesus. While the world tries to silence the name of Christ, the Church rises in unity and prayer, shaken by the power of God but unshaken by fear.
In a culture increasingly hostile to truth, Acts 3–4 reminds us that bold faith backed by the Holy Spirit is still God’s answer to brokenness, resistance, and doubt. These chapters aren’t just history—they are a challenge to every believer: Will you speak up? Will you stand firm? Will you live like the name of Jesus is above every name?

"Holy Fear and Holy Fire: Purity, Power, and Perseverance"
Description:Acts 5 is where the holiness of God meets the boldness of the early Church—and the results are both awe-inspiring and terrifying. When Ananias and Sapphira lie to the Holy Spirit, judgment falls swiftly, reminding the Church that God’s presence is not to be played with. This isn’t just a cautionary tale—it’s a wake-up call: the Spirit that empowers also purifies.
Yet, even as fear grips the people, miracles multiply. The apostles heal the sick, cast out demons, and preach with power. And when religious leaders strike back—imprisoning the apostles and threatening them to stay silent—God sends an angel to open prison doors. The Church responds not with retreat, but with resolve: “We must obey God rather than men.”
This message unpacks a chapter of holy tension: between reverence and power, persecution and perseverance, opposition and unstoppable growth. Acts 5 reminds us that the Church is not a safe institution—it’s a Spirit-filled movement that shakes the world. And the question still echoes today: Will we live with holy fear? Will we walk in holy fire?

"Strengthening the Core: Servanthood, Strategy, and Spiritual Authority"
Description:As the Church rapidly expands, so do the challenges. Acts 6 reveals the early Church’s first internal conflict—an issue of neglected widows and cultural division. But rather than derail the movement, this moment becomes a masterclass in Spirit-led leadership and godly delegation. The apostles refuse to be distracted from prayer and preaching, and seven faithful men are appointed to serve—with Stephen at the forefront.
This sermon dives into how Acts 6 marks a turning point: the Church matures, its structure strengthens, and its mission sharpens. We’ll explore how godly order fuels growth, how servanthood is never second-class, and how Stephen’s character—full of faith, wisdom, and power—sets the stage for revival through persecution.
Acts 6 reminds us that leadership isn’t about control—it’s about calling. When the Church embraces Spirit-filled service at every level, it becomes unstoppable. This is more than an administrative adjustment; it’s a divine strategy for multiplication.

"From Stones to Scattering: The Cost and Expansion of the Gospel"
Description:Acts 7 and 8 mark a turning point—where the gospel collides with fierce opposition, and the Church is forced out of its comfort zone into its true calling. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, stands trial and delivers a Spirit-filled, history-defining message. With boldness, he confronts the hardness of Israel’s heart and calls them to repentance. The response? Rage. Stones fly. Stephen sees heaven open.
But the enemy’s attempt to silence the gospel only spreads it. Acts 8 shows that what man meant for destruction, God used for distribution. Saul begins his rampage—but so does the Church’s movement beyond Jerusalem. Philip preaches in Samaria, unclean spirits flee, and an Ethiopian official encounters the saving message of Jesus on a desert road.
This sermon walks through the cost of conviction and the beauty of obedience. From the courage of Stephen to the obedience of Philip, these chapters reveal a gospel that cannot be confined—and a God who works powerfully through both persecution and personal encounters.
If you’ve ever wondered how God uses pain, pressure, or the unexpected to move His people forward, Acts 7–8 makes it clear: the Church was never meant to stay still.
